Service Description

Discover London locations with connections to the founders of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting including where Juliette Gordon Low lived and the site of the first World Centre in London on this six hour walking tour with journeys on public transit (bus, Overground and Underground). Learn about Guiding's royal connections, the people involved with the movement, and the top secret work of Girl Guides in World War One. Our route takes us to iconic and historic sights of London like Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park and Westminster Abbey as well as St. James's Park where we will hopefully see some wildlife in the form of Pelicans and feral parrots. The tour extends to sights outside of the central area with a visit the park where some Girl Guides gate-crashed a Scout rally and also to the wondrously atmospheric cemetery famous for its wildlife containing the Baden-Powell family grave. You tour guide Catherine has a personal connection to Girl Scouting as a long-term volunteer. She will tailor the tour content to suit different age groups. We will meet at the Bond Street Tube exit (Davies and South Molton Streets) and finish close to Westminster tube station. Each participant needs to bring an Oyster or contactless with them with enough stored value for multiple journeys (under 11's travel free on buses). Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. There is also an option to start the tour at the Pax Lodge Girl Guiding/ Girl Scouting Centre and it can also be done by coach or vehicle hired by you.
